Devices detected as new after driver reinstall or change of usb-hub

Post by szcsongor » 06 Aug 2018, 12:52

Hi,

To a previous topic I initiated a few month ago I got this answer: "After changing hubs, the devices are recognized as new devices by spad.next. This is a known issue and is on the todo-list."
It was about my controllers and panels recognized as new after changing the usb hub, so all assignments were lost from my profiles.
Is this issue fixed now? As I now have a lot of well configured profiles I fear that this problem can happen again and then I'll lose all my hair doing all the assignments again :)
Thanks.

Copy each device and save in a text file as a backup.

I’ve done that for all my devices, not that ive had your issue, but it does allow me to copy one device configuration between profiles.

But if you dont move your hardware around unnecessarily

SPAD.neXt tries to find the old device in the profile if a new device is detected. Unfortunately not all devices (namely most Saitek/logitech Panels) do have serial numbers to identify them. Since there is no other way to identify a device but the serial number, SPAD.neXt has no way to "replace them".
The next version of SPAD.neXt will have options to:
- Have Device-Profiles that you can then include in an Aircraft-Profile and just have one place where you have to apply changes.
- Replace a device in all profiles. (E.g. if your Multipanel got a new usb port)
