HATSWITCH PROGRAMMING

Hello. Is there any chance to assign a normal function (pushing buttons, swichting toggles...) to the four positions of a hatswitch other than panning views? When I click in "add event" only the north, south... options roll down the menu. It does not offer the normal options for events of all my other buttons and switches.
Hope somebody can help.
Thanks

I have a Saitek Yoke, found no problem in changing the Hat Switch functions. When I click on the hat switch and click ADD EVENT, get an option of 16 variables. Are you using a Joystick or a Yoke.

Steve

Thanks for the quick response, Steve. I am using a joystck.
So you mean I can assign any function to North, for instance? I will try again tomorrow.
I am a newby with Spadnext as you can see, so any help is welcome. Be sure that I will bother you again if I cannot figure it out tomorrow. ;)
I will really appretiate it.
Thanks

When in SPAD, does the joystick show under CONTROLS. If so Click on the joystick The screen should show all the Buttons / Axes and the Hatswitches. If the Hatswitch is not displayed Click on DEVICE SETTINGS. The menu should show the config of the joystick. Check that the Hatswitch_0 control is in the ON position. That is all I can think of at the present.

Yep Steve, thanks for your help. I have the hat switch visible and I can map it as a simple push buttom as for reverse, i.e. Everything seems to be ok according to the videos I have seen but it does not work. I select Repeat action every 5ms until released. I must be doing something wrong, obviously.
So far I have only been successful with toggle switches and throttles. Flap detents, push b and rotary switches are resisting. Will insist with different options and combinations until I find the solution.
It is really frustating and cannot believe that I paid 100 euros for a powerful tool and NOT A SINGLE MANUAL to follow.
I will be patient and move step by step using trial and error.
Will not surrender.

What possible commands would you need to be sending 200 times every second to your sim? That’s likely going to crash your sim or at the very least just lag your system.

Hi Dazman. Yes, it is obvious that I have not the slightest idea of what I am doing. So I will try to be more precise if I want to get any help from you, guys. I have been watching videos in youtube and carefully reading the introduction manual that Ulrich provides which is okay for installation and configuration. But it is clear that I am either a nerd or the info supplied is not sufficient for a beginner.

I shall describe my rigging so that you may get a overall idea of what I am doing. I am building a 737 cockpit based on PMDG. Yeah I know. But I cannot pay for anything better. It is working like a charm (100 fps) as long as I just pop up CPTs displays and eicas. I have Opencockpit EFIS and MCP, Saitek Switch Panel and radio panel. I use Leo Bodnar cards for the OVH panels and a Mjoy card for the MIP. I have built my own TQ and have used the board from an old Wingman 3d Extreme joystick I had at home. Everything handled by SPADNEXT. So far so good.

Spad recognizes all my devises, buttons and switches. No problem. The problem starts when I try to map my panels. Pots are okay and I can figure them out. So Axis are already mapped and working. On/off toggle switches are also working fine. I programmed the parking brake for example. The nightmare comes when push buttons are involved. I will give you a couple of examples:

1) The reverse is physically connected to the north button of the hatswitch which I assume it can be treated as a regular PB. So I select POV_NORTH_PRESS and add the following actions
Send PMDG737:EVT_CONTROL_STAND_REV_THRUST1_LEVER-event (Paratmeter:1) and
Send PMDG737:EVT_CONTROL_STAND_REV_THRUST2_LEVER-event (Paratmeter:1)

In the buttonmode I selected "Normal not modified" BUT the Reverses do not work when I press the button.

2) I try to assign two on/off toggle switches for the fuel cut off valves. I follow the proccess I followed for the Parking brake BUT I cannot find any action for the fuel cutoff
from PMDG nor Simconnect.

3) I have spent the whole afternoon trying to map the PMDG 737 AUTOBRAKE SELECTOR to the Saitek Switch Panel rotary switch (magnetos-start rotary, you know)

I could go on with other probles but I do not want to overwhelm you guys with my frustation. I would appreciate ideas for a rational approach to learning Spadnext. How did you noncomputer experts do it? Sorry for the brick and for posiible mistakes with my English.
Thanks in advance
