General Changes and Limitations

Post by c0nnex » 16 Aug 2020, 12:41

  • All MSFS Specific Data Values have the prefix "MSFS:" in SPAD.neXt. Most of the SimConnect Datas/Events will still work in MSFS, however some will not not react as expected, due to internal changes in MSFS.
  • For most of the prop aircraft the basic model how electric systems work has changed.
    There's no longer one switch (e.g. "Avionics Master Switch") that controls all of the avionic systems.
    Every aircraft has over 100 "circuit connections", which control this stuff now. To basically find out, which circuit does what the most easy way is to add them to the Data Monitor and see what changes when you flip a switch.
    Alternatively, you can check the file "systems.cfg" in the aircraft folder. It will tell you which circuit does what. e.g. Circuit 25 controls the Master avcionics for the C172sp-as1000. So instead of monitoring "Avionics Master switch" , the "CIRCUIT SWITCH ON:25" has to be monitored for the radio panel
  • Similar to the circuits there is now a BUS concept.
    Circuit = component power
    Bus = data bus component will communicate over. If a bus is turned off the component will not send data to other systems anymore.
  • There is currently NO WAY to emulate the startup-keypress for the AS1000/AS3000 (Press rightmost softkey...) using SPAD.neXt. It's hardcoded in the aircraft and would need altering the msfs files
  • Most aircrafts in MSFS have most functions hardcoded. No way to control/update the UI from outside, without codechanges to the aircraft.
    You can workaround some of the stuff by just ignoring what the UI is showing and pushing the values into the sim, but as soon as you touch any UI-Button/Slider/Tuner, it will overwrite what you set via SPAD.neXt.
  • Curently there is no way to access LVAR via SPAD.neXt. The SPAD.neXt-Bridge does (and will not) support MSFS. A new solution is being worked on.
  • The setting of axis from outside the sim is currently not possible (affects e.g. Throttle/Pitchtrim). Workarounds will be published as they are available
