Re: First time installation

It is possible but the recommendation is that you don’t run ANY apps in the simulator startup scripts. Something about sharing RAM and CPU. Best to run in its own memory space. A better way is to create a command batch file to run all the programs you want to run. I have about 8 apps in my batch fil...

Re: First time installation

Hardware doesn’t need to be connected at first use.

But obviously has to be connected before you run SPAD at some point or it won’t see the hardware when you want to start configuring or using the hardware

Re: FIP Virtual Power Support

While I don’t use virtual power feature because my gauges have their own virtual power functions, I believe you have to program the power button. If you struggle you could always get a gauge that has a blank page like my button programming gauge http://www.fipgauges.com/product_info.php?cPath=44&pro...

Re: USB 2 ports

Yeah but it’s a convenient little device, modular and ready to go, sure you can build one for a fraction of the price. I just don’t know if I would. Having a 3D printer now does make it more feasible for me now but still not sure I would want to make 12 of them. As outdated as fips are there is stil...

Re: USB 2 ports

I would love a usb3 fip it would be awesome.

With a minimum 640x480 display 30-60fps.

But you are right it probably will never happen, god the gauges look like something from a commodore amiga still

Re: USB 2 ports

Thanks for the info, that's really insightful

That was good guess when I said the FIP firmware is 10 years old.

So the question is when you going to write new firmware for the FIP and make them USB3 compatible :-)

Re: USB 2 ports

So will putting a usb2 hub between the FIP and the PC create a bottle neck in the hub and slow down the transmitting to the FIP?

Re: USB 2 ports

The fip firmware hasn’t changed in 10+ years, neither have the totally bland and inaccurate gauges they supply with the fips!!

Re: USB 2 ports

I also had to get a usb2.0 expansion card for my pc for the same reason. But also interested if kit is connected to usb2.0 hub connected to Usb3 hub is that ok. Being an IT engineer I should know, but haven’t got a clue!
